Mahoning County reports 32 new COVID-19 cases, no new deaths
YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County now has 1,425 confirmed cases of COVID-19 — 32 more than reported Wednesday.
The county reported no new deaths Thursday, and the number of total deaths remains at 173.
Of the total cases, 306 people have been hospitalized. Of the county's 173 total deaths, 72 percent were reported at county long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes, according to a Thursday release from Mahoning County Public Health.
In 99 percent of those reported deaths, patients had underlying health conditions, according to the agency.
The agency notes the number of deaths is according to the date they were reported, rather than the actual date of death, as COVID-19 death reporting may be delayed. The figures do not represent the number of people who have died in the past 24 hours and also include confirmed and probable deaths.
