YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County now has 1,141 confirmed cases of COVID-19 — 43 more than reported Sunday.

The county is also reporting two new virus-related deaths, for a total of 124.

Of those total cases, 262 people have been hospitalized. Of the county's 124 total deaths, 68 percent were reported at county long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes, according to a Monday release from Mahoning County Public Health.

In 99 percent of those reported deaths, patients had underlying health conditions, according to the agency.

The agency notes the number of deaths is according to the date they were reported, rather than the actual date of death, as COVID-19 death reporting may be delayed. The figures do not represent the number of people who have died in the past 24 hours and also include confirmed and probable deaths.
