Ohio reporting 391 new cases of COVID-19; 33,892 total
COLUMBUS — According to the latest figures today from the Ohio Department of Health, the state is reporting 33,892 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19 — 391 more than reported Monday.
In addition, the state is also reporting 2,521 "probable cases," which is a new expanded case definition provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Statewide, 6,176 people have been hospitalized, 1,583 of whom are in intensive care units.
There are 1,456 cases in Mahoning County; 584 in Trumbull; and 881 in Columbiana.
Statewide, there have been 2,041 confirmed deaths, including 186 in Mahoning County; 50 in Trumbull; and 52 in Columbiana; along with another 217 "probable deaths".
Mahoning County's 186 reported COVID-19 deaths remains the fourth-highest among all Ohio's 88 counties, according to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, which presents confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each county.
Mahoning County now has the eighth-highest number of total cases in the state. With an estimated population of 228,683 people and 1,456 confirmed cases as of Tuesday, that's about one case of the virus for every 157 people.
