Ohio reporting 463 new cases of COVID-19; 20,072 total

COLUMBUS — According to the latest figures today from the Ohio Department of Health, the state is reporting 20,072 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19 — 463 more than reported Monday.

In addition, the state is also reporting 897 "probable cases," which is a new expanded case definition provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Statewide, 3,956 people have been hospitalized, 1,123 of whom are in intensive care units.

There are 999 cases in Mahoning County; 356 in Trumbull; and 292 in Columbiana. Columbiana's figures include confirmed and probable cases.

Statewide, there have been confirmed deaths, including 92 in Mahoning County; 35 in Trumbull; and 30 in Columbiana; along with another 97 "probable deaths."

Mahoning County's 92 reported COVID-19 deaths remains the third-highest among all Ohio's 88 counties, according to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, which presents confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each county.

Mahoning County has the seventh-highest number of total cases in the state. With an estimated population of 228,683 people and 999 confirmed cases as of Tuesday, that's about one case of the virus for every 229 people.
