Ohio reporting 9,026 new cases of COVID-19; 458,993 total
COLUMBUS — According to the latest figures today from the Ohio Department of Health, the state is reporting 458,993 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, to date — 9,026 more than reported Sunday, including 392 new cases in the Mahoning Valley.
Of the state's total cases, about 125,371 are presumed to be active infections.
The Ohio Department of Health dashboard notes today's data remain incomplete. "Because of unprecedented volume, thousands of reports are pending review. Please bear with us as we work through this surge in testing," it reads. The dashboard data have not been current since Nov. 20.
The weekly volume of virus testing statewide has for the first time slumped compared to the previous week, though this trend may be skewed by the department's reporting delays.
So far this month, agencies statewide have administered an average 4,395 more tests per day than in November.

There have been 9,854 confirmed and probable cases to date in Mahoning County; 7,365 in Trumbull; and 4,480 in Columbiana. There have been 307 confirmed and probable deaths to date in Mahoning County; 165 in Trumbull; and 104 in Columbiana.

Mahoning County's 307 COVID-19 deaths is the sixth-highest among all Ohio's 88 counties, according to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, which presents confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each county.
Mahoning County has the 10th-highest number of cumulative cases in the state; Trumbull has the 14th-highest; and Columbiana has the 28th-highest.
Ohio is also reporting 25,304 "probable cases" statewide, which is an expanded case definition provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Statewide, 29,569 people have been hospitalized to date, 4,943 of whom were placed in intensive care units. There have also been 6,544 confirmed deaths to date, along with another 478 "probable deaths".
TESTING AND RECOVERY
So far this month, 285,253 coronavirus tests have been administered in Ohio, an average of about 57,051 per day. A total of 1,545,805 tests were administered in November, an average of about 53,304 per day.
The seven-day moving average for positive tests was 15.9 percent on Saturday. That's nearly six times the average 2.7 percent reported on Sept. 24, which was the lowest since the pandemic began.
Statewide, 327,078 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered from the virus. That includes 6,031 patients in Mahoning County; 4,629 in Trumbull; and 2,955 in Columbiana.
