YSU reports 16 new coronavirus cases
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University reported 16 new coronavirus cases on Monday according to the university's dashboard.
Of the new cases, 11 were reported by students who live off-campus, two cases were reported by students living on-campus and three cases were reported by employees.
According to the dashboard, the university has reported 560 total cases from Aug. 1, 2020 through Feb. 27. Of these, 506 are students and 54 are employees.
Of those students, 447 reported they lived off-campus; 56 of them live on-campus. Another three said they were never on campus.
YSU has updated the dashboard to also include results of asymptomatic voluntary surveillance tests conducted through CVS and the university.
As of Monday, three people tested positive out of 109 asymptomatic voluntary surveillance tests.
The dashboard presents weekly case totals among students and employees, taken from local health department data and individual reports to the university, and will be updated on Mondays.
The YSU Office of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety has established contact tracing and support protocols in the event that a member of that campus community has tested positive.
