YSU reports 28 new coronavirus cases; offers testing to student and staff
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University reported 28 new coronavirus cases on Monday according to the university's dashboard.
Of the new cases, 19 were reported by students who live off-campus, six cases were reported by students living on-campus and three cases were reported by employees.
According to the dashboard, the university has reported 277 total cases from Aug. 1 through Nov. 28. Of these, 250 are students and 27 are employees.
Of those students, 229 reported they lived off-campus; 18 of them live on-campus. Another three said they were never on campus.
The dashboard presents weekly case totals among students and employees, taken from local health department data and individual reports to the university, and will be updated on Mondays.
The YSU Office of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety is expected to take up contact tracing duties and will inform those who may have come into close contact with infected persons, according to the email.
YSU will offer free CVSHealth Rapid PCR testing on campus 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the WATTS Center. Testing is free and open to YSU students, faculty and staff only.
Appointments are required and can made online at www.cvs.com/employertesting. Results will be sent electronically within one to two hours of testing.
Those who register should arrive no more than five minutes before their appointment time and must follow signs to the testing location. People are asked to wear a face mask before entering any university building.
