YSU Jazz Ensembles to perform tonight at Kilcawley Center

The concert is free and parking is available in the M30 Wick Avenue parking deck for a nominal fee.

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University’s Jazz Ensembles will perform at 7:20 tonight (Feb. 24) in Kilcawley Center’s Chestnut Room. 

The concert is free and open to the public.

Directed by Kent Engelhardt and Dave Kana, the program includes music by Thad Jones, Frank Foster, Slide Hampton and Billy Strayhorn. 

Engelhardt’s ensemble will feature the saxophone section on Thad Jones’ “Tiptoe” and the trombone section on Rayburn Wright’s “Sackbut City,” as well as jazz vocalist Rosie Bresson of Canfield singing arrangements recorded by Ella Fitzgerald. 

Kana’s ensemble will feature the saxophone section on Cole Porter’s “Easy To Love” and jazz vocalist Kate Landry of Poland. In addition, the concert will showcase numerous jazz soloists throughout.
