If you've ever had an embarrassing moment at home and felt grateful that only your cat or dog was there to witness your faux pas, you'll completely relate to one Danish woman's hilarious mishap. In this case, however, the pet parent was gracious enough to document her mistake, creating a charming social media moment that shows what happens when we embarrass ourselves in front of our pets.

Here's what went down. A social media creator in Denmark shared a video joking about her conversation with her cat. The camera pans in on a black "cat" nestled underneath a credenza before shifting over to the couch, where her actual black cat is comfortably perched, appearing to watch in judgment, as only cats can do.

Mom writes, "My black cat watching me talk to a black bag I thought was him."

That's right. She had been having a conversation with a black plastic bag that bears a striking resemblance to her cat. Adding insult to injury, cats naturally have an expression that often makes them look like they are judging.

Why Cats Look So Judgmental

Cats might not actually be judgmental, but they often appear that way. Much of this comes down to their facial structure, including slanted eyes and a pronounced brow, as well as the evolutionary alertness they developed over time as a form of protection. Add a bit of human projection, and it's easy to assume they're looking down on us, even when they're not.

Cats also tend to have a neutral resting face, meaning they express emotion more through movement than through facial expressions. So the annoyed, judgmental, or angry look you think your cat is giving you is often just its natural expression.

We can't say for sure whether this cat is judging its owner for mistaking it for a plastic bag, but it's safe to say the moment has everyone else laughing.
