What Classic Nintendo Games Could Be Headed to the Switch Consoles Next?

No company has a larger catalogue of classic games than Nintendo. Thanks to the Nintendo Switch Online service, fans have been able to revisit or even try older games for the first time on the Switch and the Switch 2.

Despite the large variety of games available, there are still dozens of legendary ones that need to be brought to the service. Which ones could we see next? Let's try to predict!

Super Mario Sunshine - Nintendo GameCube (2002)

Super Mario Sunshine is the only game on this list that has already been confirmed to be coming to the service. It's a controversial one, to say the least. This GameCube game didn't do what fans expected it to as a sequel to Super Mario 64, but it's undoubtedly a unique and well-crafted experience. Traversing Isle Delfino would be a perfect virtual summer getaway. It would be shocking if this one didn't come to Nintendo Switch Online this summer. Remember, GameCube titles can only be played with the Expansion Pack and on the Switch 2.

Star Fox Adventures - Nintendo GameCube (2002)

There is rumored to be a new Star Fox coming to Switch 2 very soon after the character's successful and surprise appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Star Fox Adventures is the least-Star Fox of all Star Fox games, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Rare was inspired by the Nintendo 64 Legend ofZelda titles when they developed this one in their swan song for the GameCube.

Star Fox: Assault - Nintendo GameCube (2005)

Nintendo won't release both GameCube Star Fox titles in close succession, but they absolutely should. Star Fox: Assault is a more traditional game in the series, but it also has varied gameplay with on-foot missions and tank missions. This should also be the game Nintendo uses as a basis for future games in the series. It's a great evolution on a classic formula that just needs some tweaks.

Donkey Kong 64 - Nintendo 64 (1999)

This has to be right around the corner. Donkey Kong Bananza was a roaring success and the best title on the Switch 2. Donkey Kong 64 is a cult classic that every '90s kid adores to this day. Are there too many bananas to collect? Probably, but who cares? We certainly don't!
