‘Days of Our Lives' Newest Star Explains Why Doing the ‘Opposite of Stefano' Is the Only Way to Save His Family
Days of Our Lives newcomer Conner Floyd made his debut on April 21, 2026, and is now opening up about joining the long-running series and his take on Chad DiMera.
The role of Chad DiMera was originated in 2009 by Casey Deidrick. After his departure in 2013, the orle was recast in 2014 with Billy Flynn, who has portrayed Chad on and off ever since, including appearances in the digital series Chad and Abby in Paris and Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem.
Floyd recently spoke with reporter Erin Goldsby of The Soap Scene, discussing his path to Days of Our Lives, the relationships he has built on and off screen, and reuniting with former The Young and the Restless co-star Greg Rikaart.
Chad's return to Salem is immediately complicated when he runs into Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) upon arriving back in town. After previously pursuing a relationship with her, Chad agrees to keep his distance following a negative reaction from his son, Thomas (Alexander Elijah Bond), going as far as to write that into a custody agreement with Thomas's grandparents.
Discussing his approach to the role, Floyd said, "I think Chad's M.O. is just to try to do exactly the opposite of what Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) would do."
Although Chad was not raised by Stefano, having grown up believing he was the son of Charles Woods (David Leisure) and Madeline Peterson-Woods (Jessica Tuck), he later learned the truth about his parentage and has since navigated life as a member of the DiMera family.
Floyd added that Chad is striving to be a better father to his children, aiming to model the kind of parent he wished he had growing up.
The actor teased how excited he is for viewers to see where the story is headed, sharing that there would be "juicy storylines," for fans to see. "There's some fun, fun stuff coming up - I promise you that!" he said.
Days of Our Lives streams weekdays on Peacock.
