How To Book The First Cruises To Sandy Cay, MSC's Newest Luxury Escape
For travelers who've already mastered the art of the Caribbean getaway, MSC Cruises just dropped a major reason to look ahead to 2028. The line officially opened bookings for its Summer 2028 season today, revealing a massive six-ship deployment centered around a game-changing "double" private island experience in The Bahamas.
The headliner for the season is the debut of Sandy Cay, a brand-new luxury private island retreat located just off the coast of the existing Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. While Ocean Cay has become a fan favorite for its marine conservation focus and pristine beaches, Sandy Cay is designed to be its more intimate, elevated sibling. Guests sailing in the summer of 2028 will be among the very first to step onto its aragonite sands-which the line describes as some of the "purest and brightest in the world."

A New Dimension of Island Life
More than just a beach expansion, Sandy Cay is a strategic move to offer two distinct flavors of Bahamian paradise in one trip. "We're always looking for opportunities to give our guests new ways to experience MSC Cruises' mix of European style and American comfort," says Lynn Torrent, President of MSC Cruises North America. "Guests can look forward to the new experiences we're building in key destinations like Ocean Cay and Sandy Cay... aimed at ensuring they have the best beach days possible."
While Sandy Cay focuses on serenity and seclusion, the original Ocean Cay is undergoing its own transformation. By the time the 2028 season kicks off, visitors will find new dining venues, an expanded family lagoon and a dedicated adults-only beach area. These upgrades are part of a broader plan to allow two ships to dock simultaneously, doubling the capacity for those coveted overnight stays under the Bahamian stars.

The "World" Class Fleet
To support these new destinations, MSC is deploying its heavy hitters. For the first time, two "World Class" ships will dominate the region. MSC World America will continue its 7-night rotations from Miami, while its sister ship, MSC World Atlantic, will celebrate its first summer season sailing from Port Canaveral.
Whether you're looking for a quick three-night "no-stress" getaway from Miami on MSC Seaside or a seven-night Western Caribbean trek from Galveston on MSC Seascape, the 2028 season is built around accessibility. From the luxury of the MSC Yacht Club to the excitement of the newest ships, the line is clearly aiming to be the "everything app" of the cruise world-where every coordinate, including the new Sandy Cay, is designed for discovery.
