With the World Cup on the horizon, the "sports pet" trend is exploding. We recently saw Adidas launch a dedicated World Cup pet jersey collection, and now, another major brand is trying to use the World Cup for branding.

Beggin' has officially teamed up with U.S. Soccer to become the organization's official dog treat, and they are celebrating with a contest where "participation trophies" are actually worth something.

While many contests have a catch, this one seems straightforward. Every single dog that joins gets free treats. That would surely make our furry companions happy, right?

Simple Idea, Happy Dogs

Beggin' has a straightforward idea. They are building what they call the ultimate roster of dogs, inspired by a soccer starting lineup.

For the contest, the brand launched a Crest Bacon Flavor Dog Treats, shaped like the team crest. They are made with real bacon as the main ingredient.

How Can You Participate

The process is simple and requires almost zero effort. All you have to do is head to the Beggin' XI Contest Page, upload a photo of your dog, and submit a short description of your dog. The contest lasts until May 17. After that, the company will choose eleven finalists to create the official Beggin' XI lineup. The public voting will determine the winner.

The winner will get a once-in-a-lifetime flyaway experience to a U.S. Soccer match this summer during the World Cup. And a team prize box to enjoy while watching the game.

The company encourages pet parents to write as witty and as fun information as they can. The goal is to identify what makes your dog feel soccer-worthy. Some great photo ideas include goofy expressions, action shots, or a face that looks like it belongs on the field.

Here is the best part: even dogs that will not make the final roster will walk away with free treats. That makes this contest feel less competitive and more like a nationwide excuse to show off your dog online and score some free treats.

Even Celebrities Are Part of It

Famous actor Brendan Hunt, best known for Ted Lasso, is hosting the campaign.

He says the contest is "the crossover event I didn't know I needed." So, are you ready to put your dog in a fun and creative campaign?

We treat our dogs like part of the family. Beggin' gives them jerseys and positions. This is one soccer game where there are no losers. Every dog is a winner.
