Will Ferrell's New Comedy Series 'The Hawk' Premieres on Netflix July 16, 2026

There are very few figures in Hollywood history who have been as beloved by the public as the comedy icon Will Ferrell is. That is why it was exciting when the news broke that the Saturday Night Live, Elf, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Step Brothers actor was starring in a new comedy series. Now, the anticipation is nearly over as The Hawk is set to premiere on Netflix in just over a month.

Will Ferrell's 'The Hawk' Is Finally Coming to Netflix on July 16, 2026

The official Netflix website published an article about The Hawk, one of the streaming service's most anticipated projects of 2026. It noted that the series, which Will Ferrell starred in, produced, and co-created, will premiere on Netflix on July 16, 2026.

The show's debut will be very welcome for fans of the actor who have been looking forward to it since Deadline first reported that Ferrell was starring in a Netflix series in April 2023. After all, more than three years is a long time to wait for any show. The same report noted that the series is being produced by Rian Johnson, the director of Brick, Looper, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He is also the writer-director behind one of Netflix's most popular franchises, the Knives Out trilogy.

The Hawk's cast also features Luke Wilson, Molly Shannon, Chris Parnell, David Hornsby, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Katelyn Tarver, Gabriel Hogan, and Aida Osman. The show's star-studded cast is especially exciting because fans will get to see Ferrell reunite with two of his former Saturday Night Live co-stars, Shannon and Parnell.

The Hawk focuses on a former star pro golfer, Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, who is seeking to launch a comeback so he can complete the Grand Slam. Down on his luck, even his ex-wife and son, who is a rising star himself, believe the peak of his career is long behind him. That seems like a plot that is perfectly crafted for Ferrell's comedic abilities.
