Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll Crash at F1's Monaco Grand Prix and Leclerc Unloads: 'Sad, Angry'

Both Lance Stroll and Charles Leclerc crashed at the F1's Monaco Grand Prix on June 7, and Leclerc declared that he was "extremely disappointed, sad, angry, mixed off negative emotions."

According to AutoHebdoF1, Leclerc "ended his race in the wall during a Safety Car restart, while he was in third position." He didn't mince words.

And what of Stroll? "Aston Martin Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll has crashed out of the Monaco Grand Prix on Lap 60," reported Yahoo Sports. He "crashed into the barrier in the final sector of the street circuit at Antony Noghes (Turn 19), leading to the deployment of the safety car. Stroll confirmed that he was OK over the team radio."

Both men made emotional statements about the crash cause.

Charles Leclerc Revealed That He Had 'Brake Problems,' Declaring, 'It's Just Undrivable'

Leclerc blamed brake problems in an interview.

"I'm not one to make excuses, and I'm the first to admit when I'm being a jerk and going too far," Leclerc told Canal+, according to AutoHebdoF1. Right now, I don't necessarily want to talk, because I'm afraid of being too harsh in my words. That's unacceptable. The brake problems I've had the last two weekends... It's just undrivable."

He added, "I put on four or five brake levers. It barely touches the brakes. I can't go any lower than that. The rear brakes didn't work at all. Only the front ones worked."

According to Ferrari News, Leclerc also said, "The asphalt? No, I'd seen it, that's not the problem. I just got confirmation through the data that it was the brakes."

He added, per Ferrari News: "Honestly I'm not even going to take the (expletive) blame. These (expletive) brakes!"

A fan summed up Leclerc's weekend:

"Charles Leclerc's Monaco weekend:

  • Announces extension with Ferrari
  • Forced to wait 5s behind his teammate so Lewis Hamilton could serve a penalty in the race
  • Crashes moments later Can't make this up."

Formula 1 Posted a Photo Showing Lance Stroll's Car in a Wall

"STROLL IS IN THE WALL!" Formula 1 wrote with a photo of the Stroll vehicle. Noted Yahoo Sports, "The crash in Monte Carlo adds to a painful start to the 2026 season for Stroll."

"The pit lane is about to get busy..." Formula 1 added.

As for Leclerc, Formula 1 shared, "Onboard with Charles Leclerc for his crash, prior to the Red Flag!"

What did Stroll say about his own crash? He told Sky Sports F1: "For me, I don't think it was the damage (to the track). We had engine braking issues all race, all weekend, all year – some corners it's pushing me forward with the engine, some corners it's pulling. So, it's doing different behaviour in different areas, and on this lap it just pushed me into the wall."

He added: "I think it's a coincidence (that Leclerc crashed too at the same place). Maybe it (the track) was breaking a bit, but my issue was the engine pushing me into the wall."
