Oliver Tree Made Chilling Comments About Death, Family and Criticized Atlantic Records

The singer/comedian Oliver Tree made chilling comments about death and his family before he perished in a tragic helicopter crash in Brazil. He also filmed a music video that showed him standing between two helicopters and singing about a tombstone.

In addition, comments that Tree made about his relationship with Atlantic Records ending are going viral after his death, although there's no evidence for the Internet conspiracy theories about the label.

Tree was among six people who died when two helicopters collided in Rio de Janeiro on June 14, 2026. The cause of the crash is not clear. The Argentinian YouTuber Gaspi was also on board the doomed flight. According to Daily Mail, the scene was so horrific that one passenger jumped from one of the helicopters, to no avail, after the collision.

Oliver Tree Spoke About His Will & Giving His Money 'Back to the Artists' When He Died

Just weeks before he died, Tree spoke about his will on on the April 24 episode of The Zach Sang Show.

"I don't believe that any of the wealth, or the things that get made from it, is mine," the singer said. "So when I die, my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one's going to get a penny." Tree was not married, but he said in that podcast, while painted green as Shrek, that when he had "a wife or kids or anything, [they 're] not getting a (expletive) penny."

"I'll get my kids through college. That's the agreement," he said. "But there's not going to be a silver spoon. The idea is, when I die, all the money is going to go back to artists."

Tree revealed that he created a foundation called Dr. Oliver Tree's Art for the interest from his music to accrue.

"But there's room for other money, because when I die, my art will have residual value and will probably be worth more than it is now," he said. "People will finally appreciate my stupid (expletive) videos and my (expletive) songs. That's when people appreciate you, when you're not there anymore."

Oliver Tree Criticized Atlantic Records, Saying They Had Parted Ways

According to The Tribune, despite claims on social media that Tree spoke of feeling in danger from Atlantic Records, that quote doesn't actually appear in a video of him talking about the label, and it appears to be false. In fact, a post that claimed there were alleged threats attached a video that doesn't mention them at all. The post has had eight million views. Here's the original video in which Tree spoke about Atlantic Records. He posted it on Instagram on April 1.

Still, what Tree actually said is getting attention. He expressed disappointment in the video, but didn't make comments about threats. "I just got word that my album is no longer coming out. Love You Madly Hate You Badly is officially cancelled, and I am parting ways with Atlantic Records," Tree said. "I have made them tens of millions of dollars, but they don't remember that."

He said it was "nothing short of a nightmare" behind the scenes, complaining about the alleged lack of a marketing budget for music videos and digital ad spend. He said that he had a Valentine's Day breakup song that didn't get released "because someone forgot to put it in." He said he would continue to make music, but "the remainder of the music won't be coming out."

Men's Journal reached out to a press contact at Atlantic Records seeking comment.
