Watch how 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' honors comics in fight scene

The new Spider-Man movie is coming to theaters next month, and they're paying homage to some of the most iconic comic book covers in a very cool way. Spider-Man: Brand New Day -- starring Tom Holland and Zendaya -- releases on July 31, continuing the story of Peter Parker as he navigates a world that has forgotten him. Throughout the film, director Destin Daniel Cretton honored some of the best action shots that have graced comic book covers over the years.

In a clip shared by the official Brand New Day account, Holland and Cretton went into detail on the behind-the-scenes of pulling off these shots. The whole process was a physical challenge for Holland.

"We're shooting at 420 frames per second, which is virtually impossible to act," Cretton explained. "Tom [Holland] had to do this kind of perfect uppercut reverse swan dive where we're yanking him up into the air towards the camera. It was a real awakening to how much control he has over every muscle in his body."

The results are incredible, and it's a great Easter egg for comic book fans in the theater.
