YOUNGSTOWN — Songwriter and pianist Jim Brickman will join the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra in Edward W. Powers Auditorium at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 W. Federal St., to present “The Gift of Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The concert will be under the direction of conductor Raffaele Ponti and will feature Brickman’s hit songs such as “The Gift,” “Sending You a Little Christmas,” “Angel Eyes” and “If You Believe.”
Brickman has had 22 No. 1 albums and 33 Top 20 radio singles in Billboard Magazine. He’s garnered two Grammy nominations, gospel music’s Dove Award, two SESAC Songwriter of the Year Awards and the Canadian Country Music Award. He also has a music scholarship named for him by his alma mater, the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Wayne Newton to bring touch of Vegas to Robins Theatre
WARREN — Recognized worldwide as “Mr. Las Vegas,” entertainer Wayne Newton will play the Robins Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets, ranging in price from $30 to $99 plus fees, can be purchased here.
Newton’s signature song is “Danke Schoen.” His other hits include “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast” and “Red Roses for a Blue Lady.” He has recorded and released 165 albums.
He has performed to more than 40 million people and has performed more than 25,000 shows in Las Vegas.
Brian McKnight coming to Packard after long delay
WARREN — Eight months after postponement, the Brian McKnight 4 will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave.
The concert was originally scheduled for April 17.
Tickets, ranging in price from $42.75 to $92.50, are available at www.Ticketmaster.com and the Packard Music Hall Box Office.
McKnight has released 19 albums over the past 25 years, selling more than 30 million albums worldwide. He has 16 Grammy Award nominations and numerous chart-topping songs, including “Love Is” and “The Way Love Goes.”
JCC of Youngstown offers Cookies N’ Canvas event
YOUNGSTOWN — The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering a family-friendly spin on the popular sip ’n’ paint workshops. Cookies N’ Canvas, for ages 3 to 14, will take place Sunday at the JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane.
Children ages 9 to 14 will meet at 1 p.m., and ages 3 to 8 will meet at 3 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants will sip on hot cocoa and munch on cookies as they paint a wintery landscape.

Youngstown State University’s Department of Visual & Dramatic Arts will present “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” a musical theater cabaret, at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the B&O Station Banquet Hall, 530 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. Tickets, which can be purchased here, are $25. Proceeds will benefit the YSU Musical Theatre program.
The second annual Steel Town Studios and Friends Christmas Market will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Concept Studio, 217 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Admission is free.
Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park will host Breakfast with Santa on Saturday. Times are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Inspired Catering by Kravitz will provide the menu, which includes an omelette bar, a waffle bar and bagels. Prices are $29 for adults, $16 for ages 12 to 18 and $14.50 for ages 2 to 11. For reservations, call 330-740-7116.
Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music will present Horns A Carolin’ at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown. The program is free and open to the public. Area horn players of all levels are invited to bring their instruments to perform a selection of traditional seasonal tunes in a casual atmosphere with the students in professor Sean Yancer’s horn studio. No reservation is needed.
The Stambaugh Chorus, along with the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band, will host a Christmas concert benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. A monetary goodwill offering will be accepted at the door, with all proceeds going to the food bank.
