“We are so grateful for the overwhelming community support and enthusiastic audience responses as we have returned to live performances this fall,” John Cox, board president, said in a news release. “While we continue to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic through this season, we hope that these productions will resonate with audiences as the success of live, local performing arts spurs economic and cultural growth for our greater community.”
Auditions for ‘The Mountaintop’
The Playhouse will have open auditions for “The Mountaintop” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 21.
The production is a reimagination of the night before the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. After delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger arrives with some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy. The play won a 2010 Olivier Award for Best New Play.
