Here are some of the events happening around the Mahoning Valley this weekend. For more events, check out our Events Calendar.

Ribs and rock are on the menu this weekend in Boardman.

The Ribs-N-Rock Festival kicked off Thursday and continues Friday and Saturday at DeBartolo Commons at Southern Park Mall.

The event features barbecue pros such as Desperado’s BBQ & Rib Co., Off The Bone BBQ and Carolina Rib King.

Friday’s music lineup will feature No Funk No Justice at 6 p.m., Epic at 7:30 p.m. and rock band Hinder at 9 p.m. On Saturday, Super Babes will take the stage at 4 p.m., followed by 7% Superstar at 5 p.m., Huckin Fillbilly’s at 6:15 p.m., Turbo Lovers at 7:30 p.m. and Living Colour at 9 p.m.

Gates will open at noon both days. Admission is free until 3 p.m., and $7 after 3.

Specialty jerseys, ‘Cobra Kai’ actor at Scrappers games

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers will take on the Williamsport Crosscutters at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Eastwood Field in Niles.

Friday is Developmental DisABILITIES Awareness Night. The Scrappers partnered with the Fairhaven Foundation and Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities to create a specialty jersey that the players will wear. The jerseys will be auctioned off at the game and online. Proceeds will benefit the Fairhaven Foundation, a news release states.

Saturday is Cobra Kai Night. Actor Gianni DeCenzo, who stars as Demetri in the Netflix show “Cobra Kai,” will throw out the first pitch and take photos with fans during the game.

Parisian Promenade set for Friday at Stambaugh Auditorium

A Parisian Promenade is set for 7 p.m. Friday on the steps and promenade at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown.

Opera Western Reserve’s Emerging Artists will perform excerpts from the upcoming production “Puccini’s La Bohème.”

The evening will include brie and baguette appetizers, a cash bar and buffet-style dinner.

Fleetwood Mac Experience to perform at Robins Theatre

The Fleetwood Mac Experience will pay tribute to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band at 8 p.m. Friday at Robins Theatre in Warren.

The performance will feature hits such as “Don’t Stop,” “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon,” and “Little Lies.” The show will also feature an acoustic, candlelit set dedicated to Stevie Nicks, a news release states.

‘Women Artists: A Celebration!’ art show opening Friday

YWCA Mahoning Valley’s 40th annual “Women Artists: A Celebration!” art show will open Friday at YWCA’s Youngstown location, 25 W. Rayen Ave., and online.

The juried art show, which runs through July 22, features work by local, regional and national female artists and includes paintings, drawings, photographs, fiber art, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, videography and metal work, a news release states.

A celebration party will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. July 8 at the YWCA. Proceeds will benefit YWCA housing programs, according to the release. For more information, email mwrite@mvywca.org or call 330-746-6361, ext. 109.

‘Call Me Elizabeth’ coming to Playhouse stage

“Call Me Elizabeth,” a one-woman show about the early life of Elizabeth Taylor, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The Youngstown Playhouse.

Kayla Boye, who recently served as executive director of the Playhouse, wrote and stars in the production.

The production premiered virtually last year with the Playhouse, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Porchlight Music Theatre.

“I am so excited to bring the live staging of ‘Call Me Elizabeth’ to The Youngstown Playhouse following last year’s streaming production,” Boye said in a news release.

Journey, STYX tribute bands to perform in Warren

River Rock at the Amp will present Journey and STYX tribute bands Saturday at the Warren Community Amphiteatre, 321 Mahoning Ave.

Best of Times, a tribute to STYX, will take the stage at 5:30 p.m., followed by Journey tribute band E5C4P3 at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

Healthy Community Activity Day in Youngstown

A Healthy Community Activity Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday along Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown.

At the B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave., there will be a bike rodeo for children from noon to 3 p.m., and an adult bike ride is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be healthy eating demonstrations and blood pressure checks at noon at the B&O Station and at 2 p.m. at the Calvin Center for the Arts, 755 Mahoning Ave.

The event will also feature history walks and a Zumba workout.
