This weekend, it’s all about helping and celebrating pets in Mahoning Valley, from Emo-Ween at Westside Bowl to the Cafe Rose Halloween market.

Here’s what you need to know for the highly-anticipated Mahoning Valley Pug Festival, plus four more things to do this weekend in the Mahoning Valley area.

Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off

The Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers will host their annual weigh-off at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

It’s happening at Parks Garden Center in Canfield.

Mahoning Valley Pug Festival

Doors open at Penguin City at 11 a.m. on Saturday for the third annual Mahoning Valley Pug Festival for the first event, a pug parade at noon.

It’s free to attend and open to the public.

At 12:30 p.m., they’ll compete in the pug speed race, followed by a peanut butter licking contest and whipped cream challenge.

There’s a final championship race at 2:45 p.m. before the event wraps up at 3 p.m.

Visit Penguin City Brewing Company at 460 E. Federal St. in Youngstown.

Pick a Pumpkin at MetroParks Farm

On Saturday, sign up to take a tractor-wagon ride to the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect size pumpkin to carve this Halloween.

You’ll need to sign up online for a reservation with the Mill Creek MetroParks’ wagon rides, and organizers recommend dress for the pumpkin patch which can be muddy.

Participants will meet at the Education Building at the MetroParks Farm in Canfield at 10 a.m.

It’s $5 to attend; call (330) 740-7107 x 129.

Emo-Ween at Westside Bowl

On Saturday, head over to Westside Bowl for the third annual Emo-Ween benefiting All About the Pawz Dog Rescue.

Emo-Ween starts at 7 p.m., and doors open at 6 p.m. at Westside Bowl, located at 2617 Mahoning Ave. in Youngstown.

Tickets are $12 advance and $15 at the door which goes directly towards helping the dogs at AATP.

All ages are welcome, but the event is geared toward adults.

Costumes are highly encouraged but not required. Enter the costume contst to receive a Westside Bowl trophy and gift card.

There’ll be emo karaoke on the main stage starting at 7 p.m., and you can make song requests for a $1 donation each.

Get tarot card and palm readings, and check out the Dark Nights goth dance party in the Trophy Room with DJ Jimmy Nickels

Emo cover bands are taking over the main stage at 9 p.m., followed by the Emo Drag Show at 10 p.m., hosted by Batonya Dumplin.

Cousins Maine Lobster at Birdfish

As seen on Shark Tank, the Cousins Maine Lobster food truck brings authentic Maine lobster to neighborhoods across the U.S.

Cousins Maine Lobster will be parked at Birdfish Brewing from noon - 7 p.m. this Sunday.

Birdfish Brewing is located at 140 E. Park Ave. in Columbiana.
