3 in Canfield troop earn Eagle Scout Award

They will receive the honor Nov. 13 at Canfield United Methodist Church.

CANFIELD — Three members of Scouts BSA Troop 9025 have earned the Eagle Scout Award.

Their awards will be presented at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Nov. 13 at Canfield United Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad St. 

Jacob Kuszaj, a senior at Canfield High School, is the son of David and Joann Kuszaj. He began his scouting career in 2010 in Cub Scout Pack 9025. He joined Scout Troop 9025 in 2013. He has served as senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader and scribe. He currently serves as a junior assistant scoutmaster. 

Kuszaj’s Eagle Scout project was working with the Mill Creek MetroParks, where he constructed six bat houses and installed them in the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve, the Newport Wetlands and the Vickers Nature Preserve throughout the MetroParks system.

Prabhnoor Dhaliwal, a senior at Canfield High School, is the son of Gurjeet and Supreet Dhaliwal. He began his scouting career in 2011 in Cub Scout Pack 9025. He joined Scout Troop 9025 in 2013. He has served as patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, troop historian, chaplain’s aide and scribe. He currently serves as a junior assistant scoutmaster.

Dhaliwal’s Eagle Scout project raised $2,000 in individual and corporate funds and negotiated vendor pricing to purchase and install three one-piece flag poles on Angels for Animals shelter grounds. 

Steven Deak, of Austintown, is a senior at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center and the son of Steven Deak and Janet Pateras. He began his scouting career in 2013 in Scout Troop 9025. He serves his troop as senior patrol leader and assistant senior patrol leader, and previously served as patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, troop historian and scribe.

For his Eagle Scout project, Deak worked with the ranger at the Mill Creek Recreation Area of Berlin Lake and constructed and installed bird boxes. He also mulched the trail for the Bay Woods Nature Trail in the Mill Creek Bend at Berlin Lake.
