BOARDMAN — Boardman High School’s bowling teams are on a roll heading into the state tournament in Columbus this weekend.
This is the second consecutive trip to the state tournament for the girls team, which will compete Friday.
The team finished an undefeated season as All-American Conference champions and earned seven tournament wins and three runner-up titles.
“This is a once in a lifetime team,” coach Justine Cullen said in a news release. “The year after I graduated from [Boardman High School], our Spartan girls won the state bowling championship in 2010. As a former Spartan bowler, I believe this group of girls could do it again.”
The boys team, which will compete Saturday, also finished the season as All-American Conference champions and was district runner-up.
“The boys shot a 1395 combined score in six games in district play — one of the highest Bakers scores in the region,” coach Kevin Randolph said. “They are going to state with great momentum.”
