BOARDMAN — Sam Boak, president and founder of Boak & Sons Inc., visited Robinwood Lane Elementary on Monday (Dec. 2) to present more than $500 worth of art supplies to the winner of the company’s coloring contest.

First-grade students of Boardman Local Schools recently participated in the coloring contest sponsored by Boak & Sons, a roofing, insulation, siding, gutter and sheet metal contractor at 75 Victoria Road, Youngstown.

Boak & Sons supplied the coloring pages to first-grade classes in the three elementary schools in the district: Robinwood Lane, West Boulevard and Stadium Drive.

One student from each school was chosen as a winner and received a $25 Handel’s gift card.

One overall winner was chosen from the three finalists and was awarded more than $500 worth of art supplies for his school. That winner was Maurelius Green of Robinwood Lane Elementary.

“All of the employees of Boak & Sons know how important it is to support our local students and teachers, and this was a fun way for us to do so,” Boak said in a news release. “There is so much talent in the Boardman Local School District, and we want to do our part in fostering those students to be able to grow and learn with all the materials they need. We’re going to use the coloring pages in a special way for our employees to spread Christmas cheer in the office so everyone gets to enjoy this experience.”

Boak & Sons employees will receive the coloring pages from the students as Christmas cards at their upcoming Safety Day meeting Friday (Dec. 6). Extra coloring pages also will be hung throughout the office as Christmas decorations.

“We can’t thank Boak & Sons enough for holding this coloring contest,” said Susan Farkas, art teacher for Boardman Local Schools’ elementary classes. “The students were so excited to participate, and these art supplies are a wonderful gift for all of our kids.”
