UPDATE | 20 arrested in Mahoning County child sex sting; 14 also arrested in Columbiana County

The operation starting in June resulted in 34 arrests in Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

YOUNGSTOWN — A three-day operation targeting predators seeking sex with children online resulted in 20 arrests, according to a release from the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office. 

The sting was an operation by the sheriff's office and the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. 

Officers from several jurisdictions conducted 20 arrests from July 30 to Aug. 1 in Mahoning County. 

Facing felony charges of importuning, attempting unlawful sexual contact with a minor and possessing criminal tools are: 

  • David Collica, of Mantua;
  • Mark Reda, of Struthers; 
  • Brian Evans, of Youngstown;
  • Donald Griffin, of Pennsylvania;
  • Brendan Beasor, of Hubbard;
  • Daryll McLendon, of Youngstown; 
  • Scotty Akins, of Campbell;
  • Rafael Cortes, of Boardman;
  • Dakota Hoffaker, of Sebring;
  • Matthew Davis, of Beaver Falls, Pa.;
  • Ruben Saucedo Becerra, of North Canton;
  • Mark Young, of Alliance;
  • Roy Brock III, of Struthers;
  • Nikitas Zirounis, of Youngstown;
  • Gary Seevers, of Beaver, Pa

Akins, Davis and Young also face felony charges of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. Evans faces an additional charge of compelling prostitution

Facing felony charges of attempted unlawful sexual contact with a minor, possessing criminal tools and compelling prostitution are: 

  • Richard McLemore, of East Palestine;
  • Miguel Felipe, of Salem;
  • Brian Rogers, of Atwater;
  • Andrei Makarov, of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Ruben Saucedo Becerra, of North Canton, is facing felony charges importuning and possession of criminal tools and a misdemeanor charge of soliciting. 

James Smalley, of Salem, is facing felony charges of importuning, attempted unlawful sexual contact with a minor and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. 

In addition, task force officers conducted investigations in June and July, resulting in 14 arrests in Columbiana County. 

Facing felony charges of compelling prostitution and possession of criminal tools are:

  • Daniel Evans, of Ashtabula;
  • Bruce Crawford, of Ashtabula;
  • Randy Fennell, of Pennsylvania;
  • Jay Kelly, of Hanoverton; 
  • Raymond Byler, of MIddlefield;
  • Patrick Adams, of East LIverpool;
  • Randall Keims, of Akron;
  • Michael Boyle, of Girard.

Kelly also faces a felony charge of importuning and a misdemeanor charge of soliciting. 

Adams also faces felony charges of tampering and a misdemeanor charge of engaging. 

Byler also faces a felony charge of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. 

Facing felony charges of importuning, attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and possession of criminal tools 

  • Anthony Smith, of Salem;
  • Kenneth Smart, of Ellwood City, Pa.;
  • Charles Schell, of Youngstown;
  • William Hebron, of Salem;
  • Howard Sweitzer, of Pennsylvania;
  • Joseph Whittengham, of North Lima.

Smith also faces felony charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Smart also faces felony charges of obstructing, criminal trespass and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. Hebron also faces misdemeanor charges of OVI, driving under suspension, possession or drugs and possession of marijuana. Sweitzer also faces a felony charge of compelling prostitution and Whittengham also faces a felony charge of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.
