BREAKING | Masks are optional for Austintown students

Students are required to wear masks on the bus in all districts, according to federal mandates.

AUSTINTOWN — According to a safety plan on the Austintown Local Schools website, students and staff will not be required to wear masks this year.

However, the guidance notes: "Students who wear a mask to school are less likely to be quarantined if they come in contact with a COVID-19 positive case in a classroom."

Students return to school Aug. 30. 

Both Youngstown City Schools and Boardman Local Schools are requiring everyone to wear masks indoors. Poland Local Schools is requiring masks for students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade.
