BREAKING: Ohio reports 3,445 new COVID-19 cases; 215 are in the Valley

New vaccinations increased by 9,128.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Health on Sunday reported 3,445 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

That includes 215 new cases in the Mahoning Valley: 97 new cases in Mahoning County (for a total of 28,472), 69 in Trumbull (21,148) and 49 in Columbiana (12,626).

Of Ohio's 88 counties, Mahoning is 11th highest in cases.

There were 72 new COVID-19 hospitalizations reported statewide Sunday and six new ICU admissions.

Between Saturday and Sunday, 9,128 new vaccinations were started in the state. To date, 5,883,833 vaccine-eligible Ohioans have been fully vaccinated, or about 58.8 percent of Ohioans age 12 and older.

As of Sunday, about 48.6 percent of all residents in Mahoning County have completed their vaccinations; 46.2 percent in Trumbull; and 39.7 percent in Columbiana.
