BREAKING | Ohio reports 3,709 new COVID-19 cases; 243 are in the Valley

The Ohio Department of Health says the state has 181 new hospitalizations in the past 24 hours.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Department of Health on Saturday reported 3,907 new COVID-19 cases statewide in the past 24 hours.

That includes 243 new cases in the Mahoning Valley: 111 new cases in Mahoning County (for a total of 30,168); 63 in Trumbull (22,420); and 69 in Columbiana (13,654).

Of the state's 88 counties, Mahoning has the 11th-most cases and Trumbull the 16th-most. Columbiana has the ninth-highest rate of new cases per 100,000 people.

There were 181 new COVID-19 hospitalizations reported statewide and 31 new ICU admissions. Sixteen new hospitalizations are in the Valley: nine in Mahoning; five in Trumbull; and two in Columbiana.

ODH says 4,651 new vaccinations were reported Saturday. Of those 12 and older eligible for vaccines, the state says 5,972,854 have completed the vaccination process (59.72 percent).

Friday, ODH reported 318 new deaths since Tuesday, including 22 in the Mahoning Valley: five in Mahoning; 11 in Trumbull; and six in Columbiana.
