CANFIELDFarmers National Banc Corp. on Monday announced changes in its Accounting and Finance Executive Group as a result of Carl D. Culp’s decision to retire as chief financial officer and senior executive vice president of Farmers National Bank.

Culp’s retirement is effective Aug. 15. He spent 36 years in accounting and the financial services industry, with 32 years at Farmers National Bank.

“First and foremost, the board of directors thank Carl for his years of loyal service. It is difficult for me to express the countless contributions Carl has made over the course of his career to both the stability and extraordinary growth trajectory of our financial institution,” Kevin Helmick, president and CEO of Farmers, said in a news release. “Carl exemplifies Farmers’ culture and has consistently led by example with his stalwart integrity and character.”

Farmers has named Troy Adair the executive vice president of Finance. Adair, of Cortland, most recently was the senior vice president, treasurer and assistant secretary at Premier Bank. He has a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and accounting and 33 years of experience in banking. After Culp’s departure, Adair will assume the role of chief financial officer.

Farmers promoted Joseph Sabat to vice president, chief accounting officer, effective immediately. He has been with Farmers since 2006, and most recently was vice president and controller. He has 25 years of experience in the accounting, finance and auditing fields.

Farmers National Bank will acquire Cortland Savings and Banking Company, the holding companies for the banks announced today.

Greenwood dealerships earn Mark of Excellence Awards

AUSTINTOWN/HUBBARD — Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown and Greenwood’s Hubbard Chevrolet were recently recognized with Chevrolet’s 2020 Mark of Excellence Award.

The Greenwood dealerships have been recognized with the award more than 25 times combined.

“It’s an honor to receive the Mark of Excellence Award once again,” Greg Greenwood, owner/operator of both dealerships, said in a news release. “We place a lot of emphasis on treating people the right way. When we put our customers, employees and community first, the sales numbers will follow. We’re incredibly grateful to be recognized for our efforts, which is reflective of our entire team.”

The Mark of Excellence Award recognizes more than 400 Chevrolet dealerships across the country for meeting and exceeding sales goals and maintaining quality customer service, the release states.

Greg Greenwood accepted the award on behalf of the Austintown store, and Hubbard General Manager Denny Denoi accepted the award for the Hubbard location. The awards were presented June 10 by Kevin Whitaker and Bryan Wunsche of Chevrolet’s Youngstown LMA.

Above Average Boutique to celebrate grand opening

WARREN — Above Average Boutique, 2153 Youngstown Road, is celebrating its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday.

The boutique sells a variety of ready-to-wear apparel and custom items tailored mainly toward women. It also offers alterations for clothing, sewing lessons and fashion design and stylist lessons.

The boutique is owned by Markisha Parker, who coined the shop’s catchphrase: “Refuse to be average. Shop Above Average.”

Schwebel Baking Co. celebrating 115th anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — Schwebel Baking Co. will have a private event for employees Thursday to celebrate 115 years in business.

The company was founded in 1906 in Campbell by Joseph and Dora Schwebel and remains a family-owned business. It operates bakeries in Youngstown and Hebron, Ohio, and employs more than 800 workers.

Schwebel’s produces products such as Giant Bread, ‘taliano, Sweet Wheat, Jewish Rye and Hometown breads and buns.

Gasoline prices increase 5 cents in Northeast Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN — The average price for gasoline across Northeast Ohio is 5 cents higher this week at $2.97 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

The average price for unleaded self-service gasoline in the Youngstown area is $2.93 per gallon.
