BUSINESS UPDATES | Jewish Family Services welcomes senior outreach coordinator, counselor
YOUNGSTOWN — Jewish Family Services has hired Lynne Azar as senior outreach coordinator and Laura Haas as a full-time counselor.
Azar will work with older adults age 60 and older in the community and will offer presentations and programs at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown. She has a master's degree in gerontology from Youngstown State University.
Haas has experience working with all ages for individual and family mental health counseling. She uses a variety of techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, motivational interviewing and person-centered therapy. She soon will be trained and certified in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. She received a master's degree in social work from Youngstown State University.
Jewish Family Services is open to the community. Senior outreach services are free to those who qualify. New referrals for both services are being accepted. JFS accepts most private insurances, and a sliding fee scale is available to those not covered by insurance.
Ribbon-cutting set for Achieve Beyond Your Goals Career Employment
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Achieve Beyond Your Goals Career Employment, 611 Belmont Ave., at 10 a.m. today.
Achieve Beyond Your Goals Career Employment was developed as a tool for building future careers through fast-track training programs, with an Approved National Health Association testing site.
The new business aids job seekers with employment in the medical field. It offers resume and job research builders, job referrals and a referral agency that fits the criteria for qualified candidates.
Owner Jiquala Rushton said the program's goal is to assist people with job opportunities and careers at an expedited rate.
"Winners never quit and quitters never win," Rushton said in a news release. "Whatever the mind believes, the mind can achieve. Follow your heart and you become the lead."

Struthers City Schools to host bus driver job fair
STRUTHERS — Struthers City Schools is hosting a bus driver job fair at 11 a.m. July 14 in the Struthers High School cafeteria, 111 Euclid Ave.
Candidates will have the opportunity to submit applications and gather information about the position.
Qualified candidates must possess a valid CDL license with school bus endorsement and current pre-service training certificate. Candidates will need to pass a BCI/FBI background check and satisfy pre-employment and random drug testing. Full-time positions (four hours) are eligible to receive the health care benefit package.
Zekelman Industries CEO to speak at Salute to Business event
YOUNGSTOWN — Barry Zekelman, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Zekelman Industries, will be the keynote speaker at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber's Salute to Business event at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 2 at Eastwood Event Centre, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles.
Zekelman Industries is the largest independent steel tube manufacturer in North America, producing more than 2.5 million tons of steel products each year — primarily pipes, large structural steel elements and electrical conduits used in construction, a news release states.
