BUSINESS UPDATES: Meridian HealthCare president to speak at national conference
YOUNGSTOWN — Larry Moliterno, Meridian HealthCare's president and CEO, will be returning to the stage at the National Conference on Addiction Disorders.
In 2017, Moliterno presented "Building Leaders From Within." This year, he will speak at both the East and West conferences.
More than 1,100 people attend each of the conferences, which will be held in Denver and Baltimore on Aug. 13-15 and Aug. 20-22, respectively.
Now in its 12th year, the National Conference on Addiction Disorders is designed for professionals in the fields of addiction and behavioral health. Former Denver Broncos player Vance Johnson will be one of the keynote speakers and will share his recovery story.
Moliterno has presented on leadership at four national conferences to date. He will be presenting this year on the topic of "Leaderships Guide to Working with the Media" at the three-day-long conference.
"I am honored to have been chosen to speak at both the East and West presentations and look forward to meeting with other executives to mentor them in positive media relations," Moliterno said in a news release.
Mahoning Valley Regional Council
of Governments elects new board members
CANFIELD — The Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments elected three new board members at its January meeting.
The news members are:
- Kathy Mock, community impact manager for United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley and Austintown Local School Board member — chair;
- Richard S. Scarsella, vocational special education coordinator with Choffin Career and Technical Center and Youngstown City School District and member of the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center and Mahoning County Educational Service Center boards — vice chair;
- Ryan Jones, treasurer for Mahoning County Educational Service Center — secretary/treasurer.
The new board members will serve for one year, with the ability to be re-elected in January 2022.
"The board has been crucial to the operations of the MVRCOG for the 2020-2021 school year," Sandy Furano, director of Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments, said in a news release. "Our districts have had an increased need for substitute teachers, and the board has been extremely supportive of the MVRCOG as we navigated through the unprecedented times of COVID."
The Mahoning Valley Regional Council of Governments manages staffing searches and the hiring process for school districts, including substitute positions, interim staffing, temporary, part-time, full-time and grant-funded positions.
