Heyday Health launches in Valley with help of YBI
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Business Incubator recently welcomed Heyday Health, a new YBI portfolio company, to the Mahoning Valley.
Heyday Health is a primary care group created to provide care to older adults in Northeast Ohio. The practice uses a hybrid approach that allows patients to access care through video, phone and chat, along with in-home visits. Heyday Health's patients are paired with a primary care physician, a nurse practitioner and a health ally. Together with each individual and their family members or caregivers, the team designs a care plan that fits each patient's unique needs.
"We founded Heyday on the premise that older adults deserve easy access to high-quality primary care that focuses on keeping people healthy," Dr. Nupur Mehta, co-founder and chief medical officer, said in a news release.
Mehta said the idea for Heyday Health came out of his work as a physician during the COVID-19 pandemic when his practice had to shift to virtual care almost overnight.
"We are proud to be launching in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, an area that is actively innovating while not losing its sense of community," Bobby Shady, co-founder and CEO, said. "We are grateful for the support of YBI and are thrilled to be building our Heyday Health team right here in Youngstown."
Heyday Health is accepting new patients. To schedule an appointment or for more information, call 855-205-2087 or visit its website.
Legal Aid advocate appointed to Veterans Affairs committee
YOUNGSTOWN — Kimberly Adams, an advocate at Community Legal Aid, has been appointed to the Veterans Affairs' Advisory Committee on Disability Compensation.
Adams is an Air Force veteran, and much of work centers on serving other veterans through holistic legal screenings at VA clinics.
"Being in the United States Air Force gave me a new sense of duty and purpose," Adams said in a news release. "What I do with our veterans legal team allows me to give back for all that the military gave to me."
Adams said the challenges veterans face can be magnified by service-related health problems, such as post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, anxiety or depression. These issues can impact veterans' quality of life and their ability to understand, secure and use the benefits they've earned through their service.
"Kimberly goes above and beyond to ensure that clients receive the legal and supportive services they need," Steven McGarrity, executive director at Legal Aid, said. "Our organization as a whole is better equipped to help veterans because she is on our team."
The Veterans Affairs' Advisory Committee on Disability Compensation advises the VA secretary on disability benefits veterans can receive based on their service-related injury or illness, as well as issues affecting veterans' quality of life.
