BUSINESS UPDATES | Salute to Business event set for Thursday

NILES — The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host its Salute to Business event at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Eastwood Event Centre, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road.
The event will honor business leaders and member businesses that are celebrating milestone anniversaries in 2021.
The event will include the official kickoff of the Canfield Fair and Youngstown State University football season, featuring Ward Campbell, Canfield Fair president, and Doug Phillips, YSU football coach.
The morning will conclude with keynote speaker Barry Zekelman, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Zekelman Industries.
The cost is $40 for chamber members and $50 for nonmembers. Click here to register.
2 Valley businesses to have ribbon-cutting ceremonies
Two Mahoning Valley businesses will have ribbon-cutting ceremonies this week.
Blooming Crazy Flowers and Gifts, 8277 Market St., Boardman, is celebrating its 45th anniversary and will have an event at 9 a.m. Friday. Truth Fashion Boutique is celebrating its grand opening in Eastwood Mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, with a ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday.
Blooming Crazy Flowers and Gifts opened in a small building on Southern Boulevard in 1976. It moved to its current location almost 20 years ago. The shop offers a variety of fresh flowers, gift ideas and deliveries to homes, businesses, funeral homes and hospitals in the Youngstown area. Blooming Crazy has been managed and operated by Janet Dunn and Ann Marie Velchek since 2016. During that time, the shop has grown from a staff of six to 18. Truth Fashion Boutique is co-owned by Auntashae Tates and Terrance Warren. The boutique offers women’s clothing and shoes with a wide range of inclusive sizes. “We also just took a big step and will now be bringing more to our boutique with the addition of wigs, bundles, eye lashes and more,” Tates said in a news release. Matthew Blair reappointed to Ohio Lottery Commission
COLUMBUS — Gov. Mike DeWine recently reappointed Matthew Blair to the Ohio Lottery Commission.
Blair’s term began Friday and will end Aug. 1, 2024. He is chairman of the commission.
Blair, of Niles, serves as a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Trumbull County Bar Association. He is also vice chair of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber’s board of directors.
