BUSINESS UPDATES | Skilled Trades Expo returning to Canfield Fairgrounds

CANFIELD — The annual Mahoning Valley Skilled Trades Expo is returning to the Canfield Fairgrounds and will be open to the general public from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The free expo is a collaboration between trades groups and educational service centers, providing students and adults with the opportunity to explore trades through a variety of interactive exhibits representing more than a dozen in-demand trades.

Visitors can learn more about trades including boilermakers, bricklayers, carpenters, electricians, elevator constructors, insulators, ironworkers, laborers, operating engineers, painters, plaster/cement masons, plumbers and pipefitters, roofers and waterproofers, sheet metal workers and teamsters.

Braydich Dental introduces Smiles From the Heart initiative

HUBBARD — To help Mahoning Valley families maintain their oral health, Braydich Dental is launching its new Smiles From the Heart initiative, which includes a free day of dental care Oct. 1 for those who can’t afford dental services.

Smiles From the Heart is for those without dental insurance or who cannot typically afford dental services, a news release states. The first 200 people to register at the office beginning at 7:30 a.m. will receive their choice of a filling, cleaning, extraction or denture adjustment at no cost. Patients must register before 5 p.m. The free dental services will be provided between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Braydich Dental office, 45 E. Liberty St.

“Practicing good dental health includes regular visits to the dentist to treat any issues before they become bad enough to significantly affect overall health,” Dr. Rudy Braydich, co-owner of Braydich Dental, said in the release. “Our entire team takes its responsibility as a community health provider seriously. It’s our pleasure to spend the day helping families stay healthy and maintain a good quality of life.”

Dominic Marchionda joins Burgan Friedkin Commercial Group

YOUNGSTOWN — Dominic C. Marchionda has joined Burgan Friedkin Commercial Group’s commercial real estate team.

“In real estate, the names of Burgan and Friedkin are two staples in the industry for over 40 years,” Lisa Resnick, managing broker of Burgan Friedkin Commercial Group, said in a news release.  “To add Dominic C. Marchionda, as another pedigree with that same amount of expertise in the Mahoning Valley to our expanding team, elevates our team and knowledge for our clients above everyone else.”

Marchionda, of Poland, is a third-generation real estate professional. He first obtained his real estate license in 2018 and joins Burgan Friedkin after working in commercial real estate for the past three years.

 “I have been a part of watching and helping my family work to bolster the economic competitiveness and quality of life for the Mahoning Valley since I was young,” Marchionda said.  “To now join Burgan Friedkin in a capacity where I can help continue retail and attract talent and business to the area as part of the Burgan Friedkin team is an exciting opportunity to sustain the legacy of our families and strengthen the future of our community for another 40-plus years.”

Marchionda earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from John Carroll University and master’s degrees in city and regional planning and public affairs from The Ohio State University. He currently leads external affairs and strategic initiatives for Youngstown State University’s  Division of Workforce Innovation and Education and has been part of the university since 2014.
