BUSINESS UPDATES | Sweet Memories Vintage Tees raises $3K for Akron Children’s
YOUNGSTOWN — Sweet Memories Vintage Tees on Monday presented a check for $3,291 to Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Twenty percent of the proceeds from the sale of Good Humor shirts was donated to the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit. Good Humor is a national ice cream brand that originated in Youngstown.
Sweet Memories Vintage Tees was launched in 2020 by Linda Barton, the owner of New Dawn Design, a local T-shirt licensee that specializes in custom screen printing for minor league baseball, as well as print apparel for businesses, organizations and contractors.
“Akron Children's is a really great organization. It saved my daughter's life,” Barton told Mahoning Matters last year.
Valley companies gave 1,000 bags
of coffee to frontline workers
CANFIELD — StoneFruit Coffee Co., White Glove Payroll and 898 Marketing teamed up in December on an initiative to give bags of coffee to frontline workers at area hospitals.
Throughout the month, the BREWtiful partnership brought bags of coffee every Friday to Mercy Health’s St. Elizabeth Youngstown and Boardman hospitals, Steward Health Care’s Trumbull Regional Medical Center and Salem Regional Medical Center. Those who purchased bags to donate also were able to write messages to recipients if they wanted.
“I’ve never been prouder to declare just how Youngstown proud I am, and I’m grateful to our partners, 898 Marketing, White Glove Payroll and Jet Creative, as well as generous donations made by DeSalvo Construction and Zelina Concrete,” Josh Langenheim, owner of StoneFruit Coffee Co., said in a news release
“This kind of thing is what makes me love our Valley,” Tim Petrey, managing partner of White Glove Payroll, said. “Our community watches out for one another; we will always do our best to help a fellow Youngstown resident. We will come out of this stronger than ever, as long as we stick together, and we’re grateful for this group of small businesses. No matter how small, you can make a difference.”
“The show of support from the Mahoning Valley was overwhelming,” Jeff Ryznar, president of 898 Marketing, said. “We knew the support from people would be there, but we didn’t think we would be able to deliver over 1,000 bags of coffee to our frontline heroes during the holidays.”
