CANFIELD — The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown recently promoted Brigid Kennedy to chief mission officer.
Kennedy currently serves as president of Ursuline Ministries and will continue in that role in addition to mission integration, planning and operations responsibilities for the organization.
“Our Mission encompasses our sponsored ministries and those reflecting our charism, from legacy ministries where we have long had a presence to new partnerships that reflect our commitment to Gospel service and social justice,” Sister Mary McCormick, general superior, said in a news release. “It also includes care for the sisters whose lives have been the embodiment of that call to witness God’s love in our world.”
McCormick said Kennedy serves the organization with leadership in finance, human resources, strategic planning, resource development and COVID response.
“Brigid has great vision for the ministries and compassion and respect for our sisters,” McCormick said.
Kennedy has more than 24 years of service with the Ursuline Sisters.

Ohio Manufacturers’ Workforce Summit scheduled for October
CANFIELD — The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association will host its fifth annual Ohio Manufacturers’ Workforce Summit on Oct. 27 and 28.
The summit will be conducted virtually over two half-days to allow for broader statewide participation.
The theme of this year’s workforce summit is “Attracting the 21st Century Manufacturing Workforce.”
According to OMA President Ryan Augsburger, the event will showcase current practices by Ohio manufacturers and workforce experts who are making a difference in the intense competition for talent.
“Ohio is a national leader in developing manufacturing talent — no other state is doing as much as quickly as the Buckeye State,” Augsburger said in a news release. “Because labor availability continues to be among the greatest limiting factors for manufacturers' growth, we want to ensure all manufacturers have the opportunity to benefit from Ohio’s innovative workforce initiatives and strategies. All Ohio manufacturers and their supporters are invited to participate in this event.”
Among the presenters at this year’s summit will be Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, who oversees the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation. Attendees will also hear from nationally recognized manufacturing leaders and their workforce partners, who will provide insights on topics such as:
- Implementing innovative strategies to combat the labor shortage;
- Capitalizing on diversity and inclusion;
- Utilizing military veterans for leadership and experience;
- Recruiting formerly incarcerated individuals as a talent source;
- Boosting retention through best practices;
- Enhancing employee technology skills.
Registration is open to the public at a cost of $110 per participant. To register or for more information, click here or call 800-662-4463.
