Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Kevin Porter Jr. was booked into the Mahoning County jail early Sunday, after being arrested by state troopers on firearm and drug charges.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responded to a rollover crash involving Porter's vehicle along Interstate 76 East near State Route 534 in Milton Township. just after 2 a.m. Sunday, according to a release.

Troopers determined Porter was "fatigued at the time, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle" and do not suspect he was impaired.

Troopers found Porter's 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE on the right side of the roadway with "apparent rollover damage." Porter was uninjured and already outside the vehicle, being attended by first responders.

Inside Porter's vehicle, troopers found a loaded .45-caliber handgun and an unspecified amount of suspected marijuana.

Porter, 20, of Cleveland, whose name is listed in jail records as Bryan Kevin Porter, faces a felony count of improperly handling a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle as well as misdemeanor counts of drug abuse, failure to control and driving without a valid license.

Porter was arrested and transported to the Mahoning County Jail. Troopers reported he was "cooperative throughout the incident."

Porter's bond was set at $4,000 cash or surety. He was released later Sunday. He's expected to be arraigned at 1 p.m. today.

The Cavaliers issued a brief statement Sunday:

"We are aware of the situation involving Kevin Porter Jr. and are in the process of gathering information. We have spoken with Kevin and will continue to address this privately with him as the related process evolves."
