LISBON — The Columbiana County Health District is reporting 117 new coronavirus cases since Friday. A total of 1,217 people have tested positive for the virus in the county.
No new deaths were reported; the county death toll remains at 59, including nine inmates at Federal Correctional Institution Elkton in Lisbon and 32 residents of long-term care facilities.
The recent spike in reported cases was mostly related to FCI Elkton. The prison accounts for 783 of the county's total cases, according to a release today.
According to the federal Bureau of Prisons, there are 236 active cases among people incarcerated at the prison and 7 active cases among staff as of Sunday.
There have been 84 cases reported at long-term care facilities.
