YOUNGSTOWN — Multiple parking lots and asphalt surfaces throughout Mill Creek Park will be temporarily closed for the MetroParks’ annual asphalt sealing and preventive maintenance project.
The work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday (July 21) and will continue for several days. Lots will be closed for several days and will reopen once vehicular traffic is permitted.
In the case of inclement weather, the work schedule will be delayed and adjusted accordingly. Parking lots and surfaces scheduled for work include:
- Wick Recreation Area;
- Kirk Road Trailhead;
- MetroParks Farm.
Access to all Mill Creek MetroParks facilities served by these parking lots, including the Par 3 Golf Course, Kurinka Play Area, MetroParks Bikeway and Recycling Center, will remain open and accessible.

Pothour Wheeler Road in Hubbard Township — Pothour Wheeler Road between state Route 304 and Schotten Road will be closed beginning today (July 20) through Friday (July 24). The detour will be Pothour Wheeler Road to Hubbard Bedford Road to Creed Road.

The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Columbiana County in the coming weeks:
State Route 11 resurfacing project — Project includes the resurfacing of SR 11 from the Columbiana/Mahoning line to just south of the SR 344 interchange. During this work, one 11-foot lane of traffic maintained. Completion date is Sept. 30.
U.S. Route 30 slide repair project — Located west of Lisbon, one lane of traffic is maintained via temporary traffic signals. Completion date is Aug. 31.
U.S.Route 30 (Lincoln Way) traffic signal upgrade — Project includes signal upgrades at the intersections of U.S. 30 (Lincoln Way) with SR 45/SR 154, Beaver Street, Market Street and Jefferson Street. Completion date is Oct. 31.
U.S. Route 30 resurfacing project — Resurfacing of U.S. Route 30 from SR 7/SR 267 to SR 170. During this work, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Completion date is Oct. 31.
Safety project in East Palestine — This project includes the installation of pavement markings, traffic signal upgrades, and pedestrian signal upgrades. Traffic maintained via flaggers when necessary. Completion date is Sept. 30.
Multiple Columbiana County routes to be resurfaced — Project includes the resurfacing of multiple routes including SR 45 in Salem from Township Road 410 to U.S. Route 62, SR 558 from SR 45 to SR 517 and SR 9 from the Carroll/Columbiana line to U.S. Route 30.
