DeWine announces $16M in grants for law enforcement agencies
COLUMBUS — The state Office of Criminal Justice Services received $16 million through the federal CARES Act that is available to local law enforcement agencies in grants.
The money can be used for:
- Personal protective equipment
- New technology
- Overtime
- Medical needs for incarcerated people
- Supplies for monitoring and testing in local jails
The money is available to various criminal justice agencies, including victim services agencies and domestic violence shelters.
"With this federal funding, agencies will be able to take measures to help prevent, prepare for and respond to the spread of COVID-19," said Gov. Mike DeWine during today's state update.
There is no deadline for application or cap on the amount an agency can apply for. A local match is not required.
