DOWNWARD TREND | Ohio reports 630 new coronavirus cases

COLUMBUS — Ohio is reporting 630 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

According to the latest figures released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Health, the state is reporting 125,144 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus to date.

In addition, the state is reporting 6,848 "probable cases," which is an expanded case definition provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That number increased 26 from Monday.

Ohio is reporting 80 new hospitalizations. Statewide, 13,967 people have been hospitalized to date. The number of ICU admissions during the pandemic increased by eight to 3,042.

The state has 22 new confirmed deaths. There have been 4,009 confirmed deaths to-date, along with another 289 "probable deaths."

The seven-day moving average for positive tests was 4.3 percent on Sunday. That's above the average 3.9 percent reported on Aug. 23. The average percent of positive tests on June 14, 3.8 percent, is the lowest since the pandemic began.

The seven-day moving average for positive tests peaked at 23.4 percent on April 20.

Statewide, 110,279 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered from the virus. That includes 2,493 patients in Mahoning County, 1,578 in Trumbull County and 1,704 in Columbiana County. That metric is measured as the number of COVID-19 patients whose symptoms reportedly began more than 21 days ago but who have not died.

There have been 2,906 confirmed and probable cases to-date in Mahoning, 1,780 in Trumbull and 1,876 in Columbiana, according to ODH.

Mahoning County has the ninth-highest number of cumulative cases in the state, Columbiana has the 14th-highest and Trumbull has the 17th-highest. Delaware County now has 1,802 cases to become 16th-highest in the state.

There have been 272 confirmed and probable deaths to-date in Mahoning County, 126 in Trumbull and 69 in Columbiana.

Mahoning County's 272 COVID-19 deaths remains the fifth-highest among all Ohio's 88 counties, according to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, which presents confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each county.
