NILES — Boscov's opening at Eastwood Mall Complex has been pushed to October 2021, due to challenges created by the coronavirus pandemic, according to a release from Eastwood Mall.
Eastwood Mall announced in January the Reading, Pa.-based department store would open in October 2020.
"You only get one chance to introduce a new store the right way," said Chairman and CEO Jim Boscov. "We want to give the Mahoning and Shenango Valley communities the grand opening they deserve."
The delay was in part caused by the pandemic's disruption of the supply chain for consumer goods.
Boscov's is the largest family-owned department store in the nation, operating 48 stores. The store will be the third Boscov's location in a mall owned by the Cafaro Co. Boscov's is also located at Cafaro centers in St. Clairsville and Erie, Pa.
The location is expected to create about 300 jobs.
