Game on! Youngstown to create youth sports program

YOUNGSTOWN — The city Parks and Recreation Department is creating a committee to oversee the establishment of a recreational sports program for youths.

The goal of the Youth All Sports Planning and Advisory Committee is to create an organizational structure with leaders and volunteer coaches who are committed to city youths’ academic and sports endeavors, a news release states. 

The Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence, the Youngstown Police Department and YMCA of Youngstown.

Little league volunteer coaches, parents/guardians, referees, prospective team sponsors and other community members are invited to provide input and recommendations on league rules, play format, team formation and other aspects of the program.
