Historical Society offers gingerbread house workshops, exhibit

Participants do not have to attend one of the workshops to submit an entry into the exhibit.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will have two youth workshops for its third annual Gingerbread House Exhibit. The sessions will be at 1 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 9) and 5 p.m. Nov. 12 at Carriage House, directly behind Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.

Participants will be guided on the decoration of premade gingerbread house kits supplied by the historical society. Wedgewood Pizza is supplying complimentary pizza for all who participate in the workshops. MVHS also is offering each participant two free admission vouchers to the 12th annual Memories of Christmas Past, where the gingerbread house entries will be on display from Nov. 23 through Jan. 5, 2020.

To be included in the exhibit, sign up by (Thursday) Nov. 8. Participants do not have to attend one of the workshops to submit an entry. Entry forms are available at Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St. or Arms Family Museum. Completed forms can be dropped off at either location from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, or via email at education@mahoninghistory.org. 

Gingerbread entries must be dropped off at Arms Family Museum Carriage House from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 20 or 8 to 11 a.m. Nov. 21.
