Jewish Community Center's Winter Campus to open Friday for skating

The rink is free to use through Jan. 2.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Winter Campus at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown opens Friday.

Skating will be free and open to the community on the JCC’s rink and curling lane until Jan. 2. Hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and noon to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

The synthetic rink and curling lane do not require below-freezing temperatures.

Skate rental costs $3 for JCC members and $4 for nonmembers. Snacks are available for purchase at the Ice Shack. S’mores will be offered at 5 p.m. every Saturday.

Free family events will be Dec. 4, Dec. 19 and Jan. 2.

A Hanukkah & Hot Cocoa event is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4. Participants will enjoy s’mores by the fire.

From noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 19, a Frozen Princess Party is on tap. Participants will be able to take photos with princesses at a selfie station, and special treats will be available for purchase at the Ice Shack.

Skate into the new year with the JCC from noon to 8 p.m. Jan. 2. Participants will be able to take photos at the selfie station and enjoy s’mores by the fire. All will receive complimentary 2022 glasses and noise-makers.
