Joseph Alessi, a YSU faculty member and Army veteran, to present leadership lecture

The Thursday discussion will focus on letting go of obstacles to leadership, characteristics of servant leaders, conflict management, multicultural awareness and more.

YOUNGSTOWN — Joseph P. Alessi, an Army veteran and current faculty member of the Department of History at Youngstown State University, will present “The First Rule of Leadership” during a YSU Alumni Lecture Series program at 7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 17). 

Alessi will discuss letting go of obstacles to leadership, characteristics of servant leaders, conflict management, multicultural awareness and more. The lecture can be viewed on the YSU Alumni Engagement Facebook page, and participants can ask questions live. There is no charge. For more information, email habelgin@ysu.edu for more information.

Alessi, a retired lieutenant colonel, is the senior Army instructor of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at East High School. He taught at the U.S. Military Academy, served as an assistant professor of leadership at Washington University in St. Louis, presented at the International Leadership Association in Brussels and has served as a mentor for his school football and hockey teams.
