YOUNGSTOWN — Lt. Gov. Jon Husted on Thursday will tour the WorkAdvance program and participate in a workforce development discussion at Youngstown State University’s Excellence Training Center.

Husted will talk with students participating in the training program managed by the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition. The tour will be followed by a discussion with regional workforce development organizations, a news release states.

WorkAdvance is a five-week, paid training initiative that aims to prepare unemployed or underemployed workers for entry-level, growth-oriented positions with local manufacturers. Students were recruited by MVMC’s partner agencies, National Center for Urban Solutions and United Returning Citizens, both funded through the GM Community Support Fund.

The students are being trained by instructors from Eastern Gateway Community College at the YSU Excellence Training Center.
