YOUNGSTOWN — Mayor Jamael Tito Brown announced today that a city-wide mask mandate will begin Monday to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

Masks will be required for all indoor public spaces and outdoor spaces where people can’t maintain 6 feet of social distancing.

“We don't want to end up like Texas, Florida, or Arizona,” Brown said. “We have to do our part to prevent the spikes and increases in hospitalizations and deaths."

There is no expiration for the mandate, he said.

“We will keep it in place as long as we see fit,” Brown said during a news conference surrounded by masked members of council and City Health Commissioner Erin Bishop.
