Montonaro, Swerdlow to read for Lit Youngstown on Wednesday

The poets will participate in an online session.

Poets Darlene Montonaro and David Swerdlow will participate in Lit Youngstown's next First Wednesday Readers Series.

YOUNGSTOWN — Darlene Montonaro of Cleveland and David Swerdlow of New Wilmington, Pa., will read from their works for the next session of Lit Youngstown's First Wednesday Readers Series.

The event, set for 7 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 3), will be available on Lit Youngstown’s Facebook page. Register here to attend on Zoom and/or read during the open mic.

Montonaro’s poetry has appeared in a number of literary magazines, including Calyx, Slipstream, Earth’s Daughters, Blueline and The Comstock Review

She served for 12 years as the director of the Poets’ & Writers’ League. In 2016, she was awarded a Creative Workforce Fellowship from Community Partnership for Arts and Culture.

Swerdlow’s poems have appeared in American Poetry Review, Poetry and The Iowa Review. He’s published two books of poetry: "Bodies on Earth" and "Small Holes in the Universe."

His first novel, "Television Man," came out in 2019. Swerdlow teaches at Westminster College.
