Ohio has reported more than 100,000 COVID-19 cases to-date

COLUMBUS — Ohio's total confirmed COVID-19 cases to-date has broken 100,000.

According to the latest figures today from the Ohio Department of Health, the state is reporting 100,945 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, to-date — 1,089 more than reported Thursday.

In addition, the state is also reporting 5,612 "probable cases," which is an expanded case definition provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Statewide, 12,128 people have been hospitalized to-date, 2,755 of whom were placed in intensive care units. There have also been 3,510 confirmed deaths to-date, along with another 274 "probable deaths".

There have been 2,665 confirmed and probable cases to-date in Mahoning County; 1,598 in Trumbull; and 1,704 in Columbiana. There have been 259 confirmed and probable deaths to-date in Mahoning County; 112 in Trumbull; and 61 in Columbiana.

There were 25,974 people tested Wednesday, according to the state dashboard. The daily percent of positive tests was 4.6 percent. The seven-day moving average for positive tests is 5 percent.

Statewide, 84,904 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered from the virus. That includes 2,070 patients in Mahoning County; 1,262 patients in Trumbull; and in 1,468 Columbiana. That metric is measured as the number of COVID-19 patients whose symptoms reportedly began more than 21 days ago but who have not died.

Mahoning County's 259 COVID-19 deaths is the fifth-highest among all Ohio's 88 counties, according to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, which presents confirmed cases, hospitalizations and deaths in each county.

Mahoning County has the ninth-highest number of total cases in the state. With an estimated population of 228,683 people and 2,665 confirmed and probable cases as of Friday, that's about one case of the virus for every 86 people.

Columbiana County has the fourteenth-highest number of total cases in the state. Trumbull County has the fifteenth-highest.
